Ben Watson

Ben has been a keen fisherman since he was 10 years old. He discovered fly-fishing in 2004.
An industrial designer by profession, the craft and creativity of fly-tying appealed to him, and before making his second fly fishing trip Ben had started to tie flies.
In 2005 Ben fished Lough Corrib for the first time. It was love at first sight and the point at which Ben jumped in at the deep end so far as fly-fishing and fly-tying are concerned. Prior to Covid Ben was making 4 or 5 trips a year to the West of Ireland to fish the various hatches on Loughs Corrib and fish the World Cup on Mask.
Ben’s aim is to design and develop the flies which will catch the most fish. He is obsessed with producing the most productive Mayfly patterns and at the show he will be demonstrating tying his Copydex detached body patterns ,which have proved particularly successful.
In between trips to Ireland Ben fishes the major English reservoirs, Rutland being a particular favourite.
