British Fly Fair International

The Premier Fly Tying Show

Sean Thomas

Sean Thomas

My name is Sean Thomas I am 32 years old and currently live in Blackwood in South Wales.  Fishing started for me at the age of 4 with my Grandfather where I began fishing the river Ebbw in South Wales for wild brown trout which was on my doorstep at the time. From there my interest became an obsession.

I started fly fishing more effectively and with more success from the age of 8 where fly tying came hand in hand then as shop bought flies were hard to come by and unaffordable. Most of the flies then were tied in hand as a vice would of been out of reach.  I would source materials from wherever I could at the time, which forced me to innovative with the small amount of materials I had to hand.

The main focus for me the last 10 years has been night time sea trout fishing, i also really enjoy night time fly fishing for Bass in the summer and the odd trip to fish for salmon and wild brown trout.

I have travelled afield over the years fishing around the world but I find recently I’ve grown an appreciation for fishing more local on the rivers and wild mountains lakes local to me, doing so rekindled my enthusiasm for tying traditional  patterns, particularly classic winged wet flies.

I also really enjoy tying salmon flies and experimenting with variations of old and new patterns.  If you need anymore information please let me know and thank you again.

Kindest regards

Sean
