British Fly Fair International

The Premier Fly Tying Show

Tomas Skoging

Tomas Skoging

When I was a kid I enjoyed study nature and life through a magnifying glass. I found it very fascinating to watch the world’s smallest details. It looked like the ultimate perfection and a complete chaos at the same time.

Since then, throughout most of my career, I’ve been working creatively with graphic design and film. So, to my surprise, when I started to tie flies a couple of years ago I found the perfect artistic combination of form and function within a microscopical world.

I started off learning all the techniques and classic patterns. And when I studied the insects through my old magnifying glass again I wanted to explore this world more and deeper. So I started to play around to find combinations and styles to tie up the insects I want to imitate.

I might return to all the good ol’ classics if I fail to find form and function along my detour exploring this path.
