Jack Westbury

I am 25 years old and have been fishing since I was 5 with my grandad coarse fishing on the river Trent then at the age of 13 I was let loose with a fly rod and I’ve never looked back. Fly fishing and fly tying is my absolute passion.
With living in Derbyshire I am usually found along the banks of the rivers Derwent, Dove, Wye and Lathkill but I also have a love for stillwater fishing too with Carsington, Ladybower and Press Manor being among other venues I fish. I tie flies most evenings making sure I’ve got everything I might need for the next chance I get to wet a line.
I got into fly tying when I was 14 years old, my mum bought me a Veniards fly tying kit for Christmas and after watching some Davie McPhail YouTube videos, I could take my time and try to get each turn of thread right step by step.
I was determined to make my flies look as good as some of the still water nymphs and river dries which Davie ties. After a few years I started going to the fly dressers guild class at Eastwood with my good friend Alex which was a great experience and helped to neaten our flies.
