Donald Stewart
I have been tying flies for well over 40 years.
In my early years I mainly fished the Water of Leith in Edinburgh before finding my way to The River Clyde at 16 years old, a river I have fished and loved ever since.
This was a revelation to my tying and I quickly learned the Clydestyle way of tying from other anglers on the banks of the river.
Along with this I also fished the Assynt area in the North of Scotland, where the traditional loch flies were predominantly used.
I used my learning of the Clydestyle tying to adapt these large heavily dressed flies into patterns that suited my eye and more importantly the fish!
I have tied at many events as a solo tyer and also with the Sharp & Gentles Fly Tying club where I teach and instruct tyers of all abilities.
