The Premier Fly Tying Show

Mitchell Roberts

Mitchell Roberts

I am a Spey casting teacher, guide, and fly tyer from Nova Scotia, Canada. I grew up with a river in my backyard, and took interest in fishing at a very young age.

By the time I finished high school, I finally wandered into the wide and wonderful world of fly fishing. I fell so head-over-heels in love with fly fishing that I took up fly tying straight away so I could stay mentally on the river, even from the comfort of my desk.

I spent 8 years or so tying everything from trout flies, to striped bass flies, to Atlantic salmon flies, all to fill my own fly boxes. About 5 years ago, I wandered into the rabbit hole of classic salmon fly tying, and haven’t looked back since.

I have been able to learn more than I ever did before thanks to the challenging nature of the patterns and the incredible community that surrounds this hobby. Each new fly pushes the limits of my skills a little more, and I love the opportunity to keep learning new things.
