British Fly Fair International

The Premier Fly Tying Show

Stuart Smith

Stuart Smith

I’m Stuart Smith from the east coast of Scotland. I’ve been tying for 26 years and have been a streamer junkie for about 17 of them.

My fly tying started out at a local after school club tying sea trout and salmon flies and since then I’ve tied a wide range of pattern for most fish that swim in fresh and saltwater.  I myself have fish in 18 different countries around the world and have tied at shows here in the UK and abroad.

My main interests in tying are streamers for trout in the rivers in Scotland and pike in the lochs.

A material I fell in love with at a young age was deer hair which I now try to incorporate in a lot of my fly dressing. This material is a very versatile product and for either using it to float a fly or to shape it to make it swim a certain way. I hope tying at this show will help other people overcome some of their problems with deer hair

I hope to see you at the show.
