Hello, my name is Mikael Lindholm, and I live in Stockholm with my family. Fly fishing started in full force in 2008, and I started tying flies a few years later.

A dry fly is almost always at the far end of the leader. There is something about seeing a rise, getting into position, presenting the fly, see when the fish takes and then feel it. Where I fish varies but I prefer to fish in rivers and streams in the north part of Sweden. There I’m looking for trout, char and grayling. I also enjoy sitting in a belly boat in a quiet forest lake fishing for trout. One trip a year is sacred. Then I go up in the mountains all alone for a week.

The fly tying gives an extra dimension to fly fishing. Tricking a fish to take something you’ve made yourself is magical. Fly tying became a hobby within a hobby that i can do during the cold winter months. Even when I’m not sitting at the anvil, I often think about fly patterns or techniques and materials. I’m one of those people who can stop at a worn woolen cardigan and think about fly patterns and how the material could be used.

I mainly tie dry flies as they are what I fish with the most. In recent years I try as far as possible to use only natural materials in the flies. I make reasonably realistic, buggy and durable flies to fish with.

I also craft knives and often incorporate something fly fishing related into the knife.
