The Premier Fly Tying Show

Ashley Strutt

Ashley Strutt

I am once again honoured to be tying at BFFI 2025. I started tying a long time again when I was still old enough to be at school and living near Weir Wood reservoir while it was still a trout fishery.

My late grand parents gave me a few tools and materials to get me started and I got on with teaching myself from books and magazines (no YouTube then).

Now I tie flies for use on the rivers far and close to my home in north Wiltshire. The chalk streams have a special place in my heart as I have mostly fished those with some Welsh streams on occasion.

My fishing as also taken me to Cape Cod in the USA for striped bass, The Catskills, Slovenia and the Loughs of Ireland. Tying flies for my trips is part of the adventure and an excuse to tie different flies.
